afb Market and Innovation Event 2015: experts and executives in the financial sector discussed digital transformation

Munich, 28 May 2015 – Numerous experts and executives of the financial sector discussed the challenges and success factors of digital transformation at the afb Market and Innovation Event on 21 May 2015, held at the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel. The event was hosted by afb Application Services AG (afb), a leading European full-service provider for the optimisation of financing processes of banks and leasing companies.

Under the slogan “Digital Transformation: Success Factors and Best Practices”, afb presented a diverse programme with current trends and opportunities for innovative possibilities in the area of digitisation. A successful mix of theory and practice provided an interactive platform for stimulating discussions among the participating experts and executives of the financial sector.

Jan Welsch, CEO of S-Kreditpartner GmbH, opened the event with a keynote presentation on Business Process Outsourcing. The case study he presented highlighted the outsourcing strategy of S-Kreditpartner GmbH with regard to outsourcing of cross-sectional tasks with high IT relevance. He was followed by Prof. Dr. Oliver Gassmann, Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen, who presented revolutionary success factors for new business models in the financial sector. Enrico Moritz, Manager Business Development and Consulting at afb, provided practical insight into key areas of action, such as IT transformation and process digitisation.

In the afternoon, eight parallel interactive sessions were held as part of the proven “Speed Innovation Market”. Detlef Hochgeschurz, National Sales Manager at BCA Autoauktionen GmbH, presented solutions for an efficient remarketing process; Tomas Rederer, partner at Capco (The Capital Markets Company GmbH), presented eight hypotheses for financing operation in the digital age; and York Schmidt zur Nedden, CEO of DAD Deutscher Auto Dienst GmbH, presented a digital product development process using the example of intelligent collateral management. In addition, Prof. Dr. Frank Stenner, lecturer and author of Handbuch Automobilbanken [Handbook for Automotive Banks], led a roundtable discussion on the future of automotive banks in the perspective of digital megatrends; Dr. Axel Sauerland, Leasing Industry Leader at IBM Global Business Services, showed strategies for dealing with the customer of the future; Matthias Frerichs, Manager Digital Banking, and Dr. Peter Mücke, Senior Manager Banking at Sopra Steria Consulting, hosted a workshop where recommendations for action to create a digital roadmap for the business model were developed. Michael Emmer, Head of Sales at SpaceNet AG, demonstrated best practices for efficiency, security and flexibility in the cloud and Georg Bauer, VP Financial Services Europe & Asia/Pacific at Tesla Motors GmbH, presented Tesla as a pioneer of a new era.

Thereafter, afb presented practical product innovations for usability and digitisation in the afb Credit Management Solution (afb-CMS). The moderator, Sabrina von Nessen, Manager Marketing at afb, closed the event by leading a lively panel discussion with selected representatives of the Speed Innovation Market on trends and forecasts of digitisation in the financial sector.
