afb offers intelligent app for the digitisation of document-intensive processes

Munich, 14 December 2017 - afb Application Services AG (afb), a leading provider of innovative software solutions for digital, integrated omni-business models, offers an app for easily digitizing documents and automatically assigning them to financing applications.

In order to exploit optimization potential in the digitization of business processes, companies should not only examine process processing times, but in particular process idle times for potential improvements. Postal delivery times and scanning processes still prevent the real-time processing of document-centered information and therefore the rapid conclusion of contracts for financing applications. Companies need to rethink their approach: from a late scan process to an early scan process, i.e. shifting the scanning process from the back office to the point of sale. The afb-Digitizer-App supports this end-to-end digitization of document-based business processes for capturing, storing and communicating time-critical information.

The functions of the afb digitizer app

With the afb-Digitizer app, the digitization of documents is efficient, intuitive and user-friendly. The customer or sales employee scans the required document, e.g. an ID card, as part of the application process and submits it to the financial services provider digitally and without media discontinuity. The included completeness check ensures that all necessary documents are digitized and correctly assigned. In addition, a plausibility check of ID documents is carried out to detect potential forgeries at an early stage. The documents are managed in a structured manner in afb's document portal and can be accessed and viewed by the user at any time. Additional functionalities include synchronization with ECM/DMS solutions, content extraction through optical text recognition (OCR) and automatic assignment through intelligent pattern recognition. Automated processing of scanned documents, reading of QR codes, secure transfer of the document bundle with meta, image and content data replace time-consuming typing by a clerk in the back office and at the point of sale. The app significantly reduces the processing times of applications, lowers the error rate thanks to the automatic processing of extracted data and reduces costs due to the higher degree of automation.

All data collected via the app is not stored locally on the mobile device, but is processed in accordance with the requirements of the German Federal Data Protection Act. The data and documents are transmitted to the connected system in encrypted form.
